Vic: David Penington takes out inaugural drug prevention award
MELBOURNE, Dec 13 AAP - Drugs law reform proponent Dr David Penington was today among
seven recipients of the Australian Drug Foundation (ADF)'s inaugural awards for leadership
in drug education and prevention.
"Awards such as this are an important way to recognise the efforts that many individuals
are making to find a better way to tackle the drug issue in our community," Dr Penington
said in a statement.
ABC Radio announcer Terry Laidler received an award for excellence in media reporting
of alcohol and drug issues, while other awards went to individuals in the education, community,
sport and science fields.
The awards were presented at a special ceremony in Melbourne tonight as part of the
ADF's 40th anniversary celebrations.
