TRIPLE THREAT OAKWOOD AVENUE PROJECTS OPPOSED.(Local)

The private road to Kia Henderson's house off Gurley Avenue is bordered by woods on one side and a panoramic vista of the city far below.

That peaceful isolation would change dramatically if three planned projects bring hundreds of residents and workers into one of the last large undeveloped tracts in Troy, including land that is part of the historic Oakwood Avenue cemetery property.

"What you've got is an old city that was highly developed, highly industrial, highly populated," Henderson said. "And this was the land that was never developed."

A 246-unit complex called Diamond Ridge proposed by B.D.C. Associates on 36.6 acres owned by Philip and Linda Bloomfield would abut Henderson's property on three sides.

She said she's not against development. "If I had wanted to maintain it the same, I could have bought the land," she said. Rather, her concerns are about the large number of apartments, traffic …
